You can customize the instance resources to your needs from Instances module in itopia. To see instance details and current resource setup just click on the instance name. 

Details will be displayed as below: 

To edit resources, mark the checkbox next to the instance name and click the pencil icon to edit:

Note: before editing RAM and CPU manually on session host instances, make sure you disable autoscaling. Otherwise your resources will scale back to the default amount.

Increase Storage

Make sure your instances are powered on to expand disk size. Reboot is not needed for the changes to apply.
In the Edit window, click the pencil icon next to the existing disk to change the storage size:

Note: Adding more storage makes it available to the disk but doesn't add it to the volume. Make sure that after changing the disk size you extend the volume in the instance (in Disk management)

Google currently doesn't allow you to remove additional storage once allocated, even if you haven't expanded the disk, so always be sure you're adding the correct amount of space to the right disk. 

To add a new disk, define the Disk size and Disk Type first and then click on the + sign on the right to add the disk to the instance.

After increasing the storage or adding a disk a task is created in itopia Tasks module to remind you to apply the changes in the instance. After you mark the task as complete, the instance status will change from Pending to Ready.

Important: When allocating drive space, keep in mind that due to windows limitations, you cannot expand the drive to more than 2 TB.

Change RAM and CPU

You can edit your resources (RAM and CPU) through the Autoscaling tab in Client settings. You can select when the resources will scale up depending on number of users you define. if none of the offered options work for you or if you're on Starter plan and therefore don't have access to modify autoscaling, you can disable the autoscaling completely and set up the resources manually as described below.

To change the RAM and CPU, autoscaling must be disabled first from Client settings. If not disabled, the resources will just automatically scale to the default amount.

After disabling the autoscaling you can adjust RAM and CPU selecting a different machine type. If none of them is convenient for you, select Custom option to specify the exact amounts of RAM and CPU:

After you’re done, you can force the update to propagate in the instances enabling the option Force update. Users will receive a message that they will be disconnected in 5 min and the changes will be applied.

If you don’t force the update, changes will be applied at 12 AM.

Managing Firewall Ports

In Allow Firewall Port section you can specify ports to be open for the instance. Port should be added only in case external access to the server is needed. You can add as many ports as needed clicking on the + sign. 


IMPORTANT: If you make changes to an instance directly in Google, you can affect the correct functionality of some features in itopia.
