Overview

WorkAnywhere allows users to reset their own password from the Cloud VDI Portal if certain conditions are met. The Cloud VDI Portal (portal.cloudvdi.net) provides users the ability to reset a forgotten password via email, or to set a new password once they have successfully logged in.

Password Reset via Email

Users that have email addresses populated in their WorkAnywhere account can request a password reset link from the Cloud VDI Portal (portal.cloudvdi.net) login screen. After providing their username, users will see a Reset Password option under the password field. By using this link, eligible users will receive an email containing a one-time password reset link that is valid for ten minutes. Users can open this link, specify a new password, and then proceed to log in to the Cloud VDI Portal to access their Cloud Desktop resources.

In order to use this feature, the following conditions are required:

  • Users must have an email address populated in WorkAnywhere. Administrators can view and update user profiles in the WorkAnywhere Admin Console (cas.itopia.com)

  • Users must exist in the local WorkAnywhere Active Directory domain. Users imported from a trusted Active Directory domain are not supported because WorkAnywhere does not have permissions to the domain.

  • The password self-reset feature must be enabled in the WorkAnywhere Admin Console

If any condition is not met, users will receive an error message when attempting to perform the password reset.

Administrators can enable or disable this feature from the WorkAnywhere Admin Console:

  1. Log into the WorkAnywhere Admin Console (cas.itopia.com) as an administrator with at least the Editor role

  2. From the Dashboard, navigate to Settings › General.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. In the Cloud VDI Portal section, enable or disable the setting Enable self-service password reset

  5. Click Save. The changes will take effect immediately.

Change Password from the Cloud VDI Portal

Users that wish to change their current password but do not have an email address populated in the WorkAnywhere can log into the Cloud VDI Portal and use the Change Password feature:

  1. Log into the Cloud VDI Portal (portal.cloudvdi.net) with your current password,

  2. In the top-right corner, click Reset Password.

  3. Specify a new password and confirm it. Ensure the new password meets your organization's complexity and history requirements; the default requirements are provided below, but your organization may have a custom policy.

  4. Click Reset

Password Complexity Requirements

By default, WorkAnywhere enforces the standard password complexity requirements defined by Microsoft Active Directory. Administrators can change this policy by using Group Policy Objects (GPOs) within Active Directory; Managed WorkAnywhere customers can contact the itopia Helpdesk to request a change.

The default password complexity requirements are:

  • Minimum 7 characters

  • Must contain at least 3 of the following character types:

    • Uppercase letters

    • Lowercase letters

    • Numbers

    • Punctuation, spaces, or special characters (~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/)

  • Must not match any of the user's previous 24 passwords
