End-user
An end-user is typically a student or an instructor who will log into the labs and work in the applications installed in the selected class/lab.
GCP
Google Cloud Platform
Instance / ephemeral instance
A virtual machine hosted in Google Cloud Platform.
An ephemeral instance will only exist for the duration of the user session.
Lab
An itopia hosted remote session in GCP providing a Windows experience granting access to specific applications required for learning of a CTE curriculum.
Labs / Classroom Images
Images are virtual machine or instance templates which have all of the required software for providing the individual applications found in CloudApps Classroom. Each CloudApps Classroom class is based on a specific image
LMS
Learning management system (Canvas, Clever, Google Classroom)
Network licensing server
A server hosting a license file for applications such as Autodesk, Solidworks and MasterCAM accessible via the school/district network. Users and devices connect to this server when launching one of the mentioned applications and a license is granted to allow use of the launched application.
PWA / Progressive Web App
A progressive web application, or progressive web app, is a type of application software delivered through the web, built using common web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WebAssembly.
Service account
A non-human account with privileged access to a service, application, processes, operating systems, etc.
Session transfer
The itopia CloudApps Classroom student portal has the capability to pass the user account information after signing in to the CloudApps Classroom session once a user starts or connects to a Classroom/Lab. In doing so the login session created on the student portal is transferred to the itopia CloudApps Classroom and used to sign the user into the Google Chrome Browser without requiring the user to type in their username and password.
Shadow session
A shadow session is a session initiated by an instructor into a student’s running session. This allows the instructor to view the student’s session real time and request control of the session if needed to provide assistance.
