Overview

itopia CloudApps delivers Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Adobe CC) for industry-standard graphics, video, and content creation tools. CloudApps provides the latest release version of the Creative Cloud suite, with applications receiving incremental updates as they are released by Adobe.

In this article, we'll review:

Application Versions Overview:

The image includes the latest available versions of Adobe Dreamweaver (21.4), Adobe Prelude (22.6.1), and Adobe Animate (23.0.9). For context:

Adobe Dreamweaver 21.4 is the most recent update for this application.

Adobe Prelude has been officially discontinued, so no newer versions exist beyond what’s included.

Adobe Animate transitioned to the Windows Store after version 23.0.9, which means it can no longer be installed on Windows Server operating systems.

Application licensing

itopia CloudApps does not provide licensing for Adobe Creative Cloud. CloudApps administrators must provide their own licensing information when configuring Adobe CC for a Class.

Currently, itopia only supports per-user licensing for Adobe Creative Cloud. Users must sign in to Adobe Creative Cloud when they launch their Labs session.

If your school district doesn't already have Adobe educational licenses, contact Adobe to purchase Creative Cloud for education.

Custom fonts

Custom fonts can be used in Creative Cloud applications like Photoshop and Illustrator. The best practice for bringing custom fonts into the session is to save them to an external storage system like Google Drive or One Drive and then add them to the Creative Cloud app within the session. After adding them with Creative Cloud, they will be available within the applications.

Adding Adobe Fonts Using Creative Cloud

The recommended method for adding fonts to Adobe applications is through Adobe Creative Cloud. By adding fonts to your Adobe account, these fonts will automatically be available whenever you sign in to an Adobe application on any device, including CloudApps. This ensures seamless access to your preferred fonts across projects and applications.

For additional guidance and troubleshooting tips, please refer to Adobe’s support article: Troubleshoot Adding Fonts.

Following these steps will help maintain consistency in font availability and resolve common issues with font syncing.

Known issues

Missing cursors

Some applications like Photoshop and Premiere use custom mouse cursors and they will not render correctly on the browser. When this happens, you will likely just see the regular pointer, rather than the custom cursor shape provided by the application. There are known issues related to matching the application specific cursors with the local cursor in your web browser and itopia is working to resolve those.

Adobe Creative Cloud application not opening

There is a known issue with the Adobe Creative Cloud app not launching due to recent Adobe updates. Because itopia updates its VM images on a scheduled cycle—less frequently than Adobe's release pace—users may encounter an error message when attempting to open the CC app.

Workaround: Launch any other Adobe application (e.g., Photoshop or Illustrator) and sign in using your Adobe credentials. All personalized settings and assets saved to the Adobe account will remain accessible.

Once itopia support is notified about the Adobe CC update message, our engineers are assigned to update the image. Please note that this process may take a few weeks depending on current workloads.
